Minnesota Dairy Goat Association

Interactive Scavenger Hunt

The Minnesota Dairy Goat Association promotes dairy goats and Minnesota dairy goat breeders through development programs, educational events, youth involvement, shows, and community. We are hope you enjoy learning a bit about dairy goats and meeting some of our member herds!​

There are eight things in this scavenger hunt. Find and do the tasks, in any order. At each stop, there will be a new QR code to scan that will record your progress. When done, return to the Goat Information Booth at the front of the barn and show the completion screen on your device to win a fun prize. Good luck!

Alpine

Known for being a hardy, adaptable animal that thrives in any climate while maintaining good health and excellent production.

Alpine Antics!

 

Snap a selfie with an Alpine goat doing its best 'mountain goat' impression. Extra points for dramatic mountain poses!

LaMancha

Any color or color combination, the distinctive feature of the LaMancha is very short ears. This breed was developed in the United States and is known for its calm nature.

Lamancha Lookout!

Spot a LaMancha goat and snap a photo showing its unique tiny ears. Bonus if you capture a goofy goat grin!

Nigerian Dwarf

Developed in the United States, it is the only registered miniature breed. They produce a proportionate quantity of milk with high butterfat.

Spot a tiny Nigerian Dwarf goat and take a photo of its pint-sized charm and colors!

Nubian

Distinctive breed characteristic with a “Roman nose” and long, pendulous ears. This breed is also known for the high butterfat and protein content of its milk.

Oberhasli

The color is bay, ranging from light to a deep red bay with correct black markings. This breed is also known for its calm disposition.

Saanen

Saanens are white or light cream-colored only. They're a favorite for dairies due to high milk production and a calm temperament.

Sable

Any color or combination of colors except solid white or cream. They have the same high milk production and temperament as the Saanen.

Find a Sable goat and capture a photo showcasing its varied coat colors and unique sable charm.

Toggenburg

Color is solid, from fawn to chocolate with white or cream markings. They were among the first purebred dairy goats to be imported into the United States.
