What Breeds Do We Raise?
ALPINE
Known for being a hardy, adaptable animal that thrives in any climate while maintaining good health and excellent production.
LAMANCHA
Any color or color combination, the distinctive feature of the LaMancha is very short ears. This breed was developed in the United States and is known for its calm nature.
RECORDED GRADE
Recorded Grade is a classification for standard-size dairy goats whose ancestry is not fully documented or who are crosses of different breeds, provided they conform to a specific breed standard.
What do we like about goats?
We love how friendly and loving goats are. They are attention seekers, which is so fun to have a barn full of animals happy to see you every time you walk in. We also love how they each have such unique personalities. The community around goats is pretty amazing as well!
What kind of setup do we use?
We currently hand milk because we are only milking four goats. However, we will switch to a single milker when we are milking more than six. The clean up time on a milking machine only pays off when we are milking more than six, otherwise hand milking is faster and more efficient for us.
How much milk do we get and what do we do with all of it?
Our goats produce around 1,200 pounds of milk per year.
We got into dairy goats because of my husband’s very sensitive skin. We wanted to make our own soaps annd lotions. So our primary product is goat milk soap. We also saw the amazing benefits of raw goat milk on our dog, so we sell raw milk for pet food.
Other fun facts about us:
Owner, Maggie (Stiles) Stensaas, was a Princess Kay of the Milky Way finalist in 2012. She has always loved milking, both cows and goats, as well as promoting the goodness of milk!
