Good job on finding a milking machine!

The process of getting milk from a goat only involves two basic things. First, female goats (does) must come into lactation (production of milk) through the process of kidding. Then, it's a matter of extracting the milk from the doe's udder. Dairy does have two teats on their udder, despite often having more than two kids.

 

There are goats that raise their own babies, those that are hand-milked, manual pulse suction devices, and goats that are milked by small or complex milking machines. The process involves trapping the milk from the udder in the teat and applying a gentle squeezing pressure.

At shows, some people will only milk by hand, not wanting to haul or clean equipment. Others bring a portable milking machine to help speed things up at milking time, especially when they have a lot of does to milk!​
