A family-owned micro-dairy farm offering fresh milk and cream and dairy goat breeding stock. We have been raising goats since 2008.
What Breeds Do We Raise?
ALPINE
Known for being a hardy, adaptable animal that thrives in any climate while maintaining good health and excellent production.
TOGGENBURG
Color is solid, from fawn to chocolate with white or cream markings. They were among the first purebred dairy goats to be imported into the United States.
What do we like about goats?
We love the animals and the goat keeping community of folks who have become such good friends over the years.
Dairy goats have always been central to our many adventures as a family, but of course they are also a lot of work and have brought their fair share of sacrifice and highs and lows since Doug and Mary purchased their foundation animals 50 years ago. We are grateful to the many individuals who have inspired and helped us along the way. We are also determined to continue breeding top quality animals as we strive towards new goals in the future.
What kind of setup do we use?
We are a hobby farm and breeders of show stock. We utilize milking machines.
Kids are raised on a CAE prevention program. All births are attended, all kids are removed immediately at birth, and raised on pasteurized goat milk from CAE negative does only (tested annually in the winter prior to kidding).
How much milk do we get and what do we do with all of it?
One of our breeding goals is to have does that produce 3000+ lbs by the age of 3 years. We highly value production and it is definitely emphasized in our breeding program.
Though we were on official DHIA production testing for many years, we stopped testing due to cost. However, in 2016 we began DHI Owner Sampler-AR, so records are available since 2016. In 2016, every animal on test earned their milking star.
We use the milk produced to make cheese and feed to pigs.
Other fun facts about us:
The Minnesota State Fair is the event that is closest to our hearts, and we have shown our animals at that event every year since 1980. A goal is to make it to our 50th year.
In 2005, we were honored to be recognized by the ADGA Pioneer Program at the National Convention for our contributions to the Association and to dairy goat genetics.
