A family-owned micro-dairy farm offering fresh milk and cream and dairy goat breeding stock. We have been raising goats since 2008.
What Breeds Do We Raise?
NIGERIAN DWARF
Developed in the United States, it is the only registered miniature breed. They produce a proportionate quantity of milk with high butterfat.
OBERHASLI
The color is bay, ranging from light to a deep red bay with correct black markings. This breed is also known for its calm disposition.
SAANEN
The color is bay, ranging from light to a deep red bay with correct black markings. This breed is also known for its calm disposition.
RECORDED GRADE
Recorded Grade is a classification for standard-size dairy goats whose ancestry is not fully documented or who are crosses of different breeds, provided they conform to a specific breed standard.
What do we like about goats?
I enjoy their friendly, goofy personalities. I also enjoy the springtime with all the new babies running around. My sister always tells me the goats know who I am, they aren’t as loud when she’s out there vs when I go out to the barn.
What kind of setup do we use?
I milk between 10-14 does by hand during the year, though after 22 years of doing it by hand I’m ready to upgrade to a milk machine!
How much milk do we get and what do we do with all of it?
I usually get about 8-10 gallons a day. I feed the milk the does produce to the baby kids and to bottle calves. Next year, I am planning to start making cheese with the milk!
Other fun facts about us:
The first goats on the farm was a pair of pygmies that my aunt brought over when I was 7. After that I was hooked on goats and my first dairy goats were a Nubian kid and a Toggenburg recorded grade kid!
