2011 Annual MDGA Goat Auction List
The Minnesota Dairy Goat Association conducts a fund-raising auction each year at its Annual Conference. Three animals were donated by ADGA members for auction at the November 12th, 2011, Breeders Conference at the University of Minnesota - St. Paul Campus. The first two listed are shown below. The other doe, a Saanen from Kapra Vista, will be listed soon. Thanks to our donors for providing such quality animals for our sale.
Nigerian Dwarf Doe - Wren Hill Indigo

Wren Hill Indigo (October picture) - D.O.B. March 7, 2011
Here is the ADGA Genetics Link for further pedigree information on Indigo.
Wren Farm Indigo is a beautiful salt and pepper doe (mostly black with a white sprinkles over parts of her body) she also has frosted ears. She has very nice legs, strong back and wonderful dairy character. She is a 4th generation doe at our farm – we currently own and are milking her dam (Wren Farm Chai), maternal and paternal grand dams (Wren Farm Esther & Avian Acres Vesta) and great grand dam (Heidi’s Mini Acres Stella). All of these does are wonderful milkers – best in our herd – and two of them earned their official MDGA milk star (1*) in 2011. In addition they all have proven themselves in the show ring over the past 2 years that we have been showing. With all of them earning at least 1 or more Championships and Best of Breed.
Indigo was Reserve Grand Champion Junior Doe - ring 2 at the Marshfield show this past June and was 1st Place in her class in one of the rings at the Bluff Country Show this fall.
Indigo has a wonderful background on both sides of her family. Including the following:
Chai is a wonderful dairy goat with a strong topline and wide long body. She brings the strong overall dairy character from her dam (Esther) and grand dam (Stella) ...all great milkers at our farm. Chai has done very well in the show ring she earned her 1st Leg in the very first show I took her to last year (Grand Champion Junior Doe - 2010 at Olmstead County Fair - 30+ junior does at the show.) This year I did not show Chai until the Dakota County Fair in August and she was 1st place Yearling Milker out of a very large milking yearling class. At the Minnesota Fair Chai was 4th in a very large yearling milking class. Chai's maternal & paternal grandams (Wren Farm Esther & Avian Acres Vesta) earned their milking stars this past June at our official ADGA milk test.
Wren Farm Esther 1*M (Maternal Granddam): 2011 Linear Appraisal = 85 VEV+ 85
Esther is one of our "home grown" Wren Farm favorites. She is a very pretty, slender, fine-boned doe with excellent dairy character. As a yearling, Esther was 1st place yearling milker and 2nd placed udder at the 2010 ADGA National Show! Esther is an excellent milker keeping her production up late unto the fall. This year (2011) she earned her official milking star (1*M). She has a beautiful udder with very large teats.
Avian Acres Vesta 1*M (Paternal Granddam): 2011 Linear Appraisal = 85 VVE+
Heidi’s Mini Acres Stella (Maternal Great Granddam): 2011 LA = 86 V+VV
Stella is a beautiful all around dairy goat with wonderful dairy character, a beautiful mammary system with nice teats that make her easy to milk. She is a wonderful milk producer and keeps milking well late into the fall milking season. She was 1st place doe and best udder in her class at the Minnesota State Fair (Senior Does 5+ years old and there were 7 goats in her class). Stella was also Grand Champion Senior Doe at this years fall Bluff Country Show (ring 4). Stella only needs one more leg to be a Permanent Champion.
Wren Farm Ricky (Sire)
Ricky is a beautiful (almost pure red) strong dairy buck with very good width, high shoulders, strong legs and a very level topline and rump. Ricky's sire, Avian Acres Nat Ares (paternal grandsire also at our farm) has produced beautiful does at our farm including Wren Farm (WH) Esther,1st placing milking yearling and 2nd place udder at the 2010 ADGA National Show. (Esther is a paternal 1/2 sister to Ricky)
Avian Acres Cupid (Chai’s Maternal Grandsire)
We have had Cupid since he was a kid and has been one of our main herd sires. Cupid is the son of Sugar Creek Beau Weevil. Both these goats have wonderful dairy character and have produced wonderful dairy goats.
Sugarcreek MI Sally's Nate (Paternal Great Grandsire)
Nate is the sire of the 2006 AGS National Best Udder, ARMCH Sugar Creek Nate's Patience.
